I Thought It Was Just Me
This book.
Oh my word did it speak words straight to my heart, words I had no idea I had been longing to hear.
I Thought It Was Just Me (But It Isn't), explores shame in a way that finally allows for me to understand what it truly means. Brene Brown's work in shame and vulnerability is a breath of fresh air in a world where we are constantly being told we need to be somebody else.
She shines the light in dark corners and tackles shame in areas we are too ashamed to talk about; parenting, work, body image, friendships, marriages, cultures, sexuality and she gives strategies on how to recognize these shame triggers and to build resilience around them.
I recommend this book to everyone with a beating heart but especially to women who have ever felt like they need to hide behind something to feel accepted.
I highlighted and underlined the crap out of this one and it will sit on my very special bookshelf forever to be revisited, loved and hugged for it's wonderful message to help women feel complete in their lives and to fully feel comfortable expressing themselves vulnerably.
A true breath of fresh air.
Do yourself a favor and get this book today, and buy one for all the women you adore and love in your lives.
With Love,
Shannon
